Continuing with the blacksmithing theme, I made a hot cutter for my hardy hole.

I did a bit of forging practice today. I’m working on squaring stock and making smooth forward and reverse tapers.

Given that this started out as round mild steel bar, I’m quite happy with the squareness but I was aiming for a smaller cross section.

The forward taper went well, the reverse taper less well. I need to work on that.

I also need to work on the end curls. I found them harder than they should have been.

The central twist was fun though.
